When I think about how much life has changed since COVID, it feels like a whole other world. I joke that I went into the pandemic as a single gal in my 20s and came out a married 30-something. Life didn’t just change—it did a full inversion and found its balance. (Sorry, yoga pun.)
From Crazy Retail Hours to the Wellness Industry
For years, I worked in retail management, aka:
Crazy Hours
Constantly on my Feet
Always running around.
While I absolutely loved it—the fashion, the fast-paced environment, my incredible team, and most of all, helping clientele, after COVID, I knew it was time for a change. I leaned into my bachelor’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences (think family nutrition, personal finances, and lifestyle wellness) and landed in the Wellness Industry.
Working as a wellness coordinator allowed me to help companies prioritize wellness for their employees, focusing on the whole self and all aspects of health. Now, in my marketing role, I ensure that the big-picture resources are accessible and meaningful to everyone.
As a yoga instructor, I shift my focus to the individual—meeting people where they are, creating a space for personal growth, and celebrating the connection between the mind, body, and breath. Both roles let me live my passion for wellness in unique but equally rewarding ways.
How Yoga Became My Go-To Wellness Practice
During COVID, I started practicing yoga regularly. While I’d practiced yoga occasionally before—thanks to my background in dance—it wasn’t until lockdowns that it became essential. Then shifting from retail to a desk job revealed how much sitting affected my health. (Or maybe it’s also just being in my 30s now, who knows?), but yoga became even more crucial.
I’m not about chasing fitness trends or perfection. I love baking (and eating) bread with my husband, diving into a good book, and exploring museums and art galleries. My ideal life is one where I cherish time with friends and family, thrive in my career, and embrace workouts as a fulfilling part of my routine rather than a task to check off. Yoga helped me find that balance.
Why Yoga Works for Me (And Maybe for You Too)
Yoga isn’t just a workout for me—it’s my secret weapon for everything else I do. Here’s why it stuck:
Body Awareness: Yoga helped me tune into how my body moves, which has improved my form in strength training and cardio. Bonus: fewer injuries.
Pain-Free Living: I’ve yet to wake up with that “slept-wrong back pain” everyone jokes about in their 30s. I credit yoga for that.
Creative Flow: By moving my body, I find more stillness in my mind. Yoga clears the clutter and helps me focus on the things I love.
Flexible Practice: Yoga lets me prioritize movement without it taking over my life. I can do a 10-minute flow when I wake up, work in some midday stretches at my desk, or take a longer class.
Let Me (and Triad Wellness) Help You Find Your Groove
My philosophy is simple: movement is for everyone. Whatever your fitness goals, favorite workouts, or pain points are, I believe movement should match your life, not the other way around. That’s the philosophy I bring to my yoga classes at Triad Wellness. I believe yoga should complement your life, enhance your personal fitness journey, and encourage intentional movement throughout your day.
My classes focus on cultivating a calm, centered mind and a strong, mobile body. I inspire students to explore their unique capabilities, embrace playfulness, and move confidently—whether mastering a challenging flow or taking a quiet moment to breathe.
Whether you’re looking to stay active, reduce stress, or find a routine that actually works for you, I’m here to help. Let’s roll out a mat together and see what’s possible. This is my story, and maybe it’s the start of yours too.
